Title: The impacts of animal therapy on neurological biomarkers of stress resilience
Project Description:
Stress throughout college is associated with negative outcomes including poor health, poor academic performance, and depression (Brougham et al., 2009; Hudd et al., 2000). Animal therapy has been used as a means of lowering stress in students (Jarolmen & Patel, 2018). The proposed project will use EEG to analyze biological markers of stress, provide greater data on the positive neurological effects of animal therapy on stress resilience, and study environmental factors that may predict positive outcomes from animal therapy. As a result, the study aims to provide new evidence surrounding neurological impacts of animal therapy for college student stress.
