The Court of Social Media: Leveraging Computational Methods to Predict Public Response to Sexual Misconduct News Stories

Hometown: Falls Church, Virginia

Department: Interdisciplinary Studies

Advisor: Daniel Parker

How could Big Data era statistical techniques be leveraged to analyze how differing language features in separate news articles affect public sentiment? To address this question, this honors project will compare and contrast different machine learning techniques seeking to capture latent language features that influence public opinion (as captured by social media).

All William & Mary Honors Fellowships fundraising supports the Charles Center Honors Fellowships Fund. Direct support for individual undergraduate research projects is distributed by the Roy R. Charles Center for Academic Excellence.
