The Institute for the Theory & Practice of International Relations (ITPIR) seeks funding for a policy-oriented research competition modeled after the popular television show, Shark Tank. We want to extend the opportunity to participate beyond ITPIR students to include all W&M students, and provide these students with a structured research experience on a policy issue of their choice.
Recognizing the value of student ideas, in 2015 ITPIR launched Shark Tank. The program was designed to provide students with the mentorship and resources needed to develop their own ideas. Previous Shark Tank judges included Dr. Ellen Stofan, former Chief Scientist of NASA, and Ambassador Thomas Shannon, current Undersecretary of State for Political Affairs at the State Department.
With more funding, we will be able to fund more student projects, ultimately leading to more knowledge breakthroughs that could inform key policy decisions.
