My honors research aims not only to provide a case for the establishment of universal pre-K education system within the United States, but also to explore the current political constraints in place and analyze actual funding mechanisms in implementing such initiative. My research is thereupon unique in its threefold approach, as most existing literature adopt a combination of the two of the three. My final product of the honors project will allow policymakers to effectively weigh the benefits and costs attached to the value of early childhood education; it will also create a financial guide for all those affected by the project, including national/state governments, local businesses, and individual households. Furthermore, my research will generate an authentic piece of analysis that may be applied to other countries that face similar social circumstances. Therefore, I will strive to carefully develop a political-economic framework that fosters a critical evaluation of the value of pre-K education.
