A William & Mary education takes students and faculty around the world. Each summer, members of our community conduct research and have global experiences that shape lives for the better.

For Alex McCullough '27, that experience came from the W&M Global Scholars Program American Statecraft Cohort in Dehli, India.

My time in New Delhi, India, was a highlight of my junior year at William & Mary. The program gave me the opportunity to engage directly with think tanks, government officials and the Ministry of External Affairs in India. This hands on learned outside of the classroom was a especially profound. The experience changed how I think about the world, and I came back with more questions than answers. W&M supported me every step of the way and made the logistics significantly easier helping with everything from insurance to flights. As a student my professors pushed me to think seriously about the future of the global south, India as a civilization state and building a world that I want to live in.

Global reach isn't just for students. Scott Ickes, Associate Professor of Health Sciences shares his experience working abroad.

Partnering with students in Kenya to support working mothers and strengthen community health resources has been a defining experience of my time at W&M. Experiences like these reveal the compassion, curiosity and global perspective our students carry into the world.
