The Democracy Scholars Program is a living-learning community at William & Mary inspired by the legacy of Project Plus (1972–1981). By connecting academic study with civic engagement, the program encourages students to think deeply about democracy and their role in shaping the future of society.
First-year students join a cohort that brings together classroom learning, residential life and mentorship. Through seminars, discussions and community engagement, students explore democratic ideals while building relationships with faculty, peers and leaders who share a commitment to public life.
