Invest in the future of W&M in D.C.
To celebrate the Washington Center’s 25th anniversary, we’re launching the new Washington Center Endowment to support the future of W&M in D.C. Reaching $100,000 will officially establish this fund.
Our Challenge: An anonymous donor has committed $50,000 to the endowment that will unlock when 150 donors give to any Washington Center Fund on One Tribe One Day.
Twenty-five years ago, W&M made a bold choice about its future. In 2001, the Washington Center opened its doors, establishing W&M’s presence in the nation’s capital and creating access to internships, mentorship and real-world experiences only possible in Washington, D.C. Because of our passionate network of alumni, students and donors, that vision is alive and growing.
Today, one in 25 W&M undergraduates studies in D.C.
More than two decades ago, W&M chose Washington. Today, your gift helps shape what comes next. Thank you for your support and for believing in our mission.
Why Our Donors Give
For many students, a career begins with an internship. But access is not always based on talent. Housing, transportation, and unpaid roles create barriers many cannot afford.
Thanks to our generous supporters, we have:
- Maintained a 100% internship match rate since 2006
- Awarded $170,000+ in scholarships to remove financial barriers last year expanding access for first-generation and high-need students.
- Strengthened leadership pathways in diplomacy, public service, business and global affairs
- Built a year-round W&M presence in Washington that prepares students and young leaders to launch purposeful careers
- Hosted 84 events last year, convening faculty, alumni, executives and public leaders to strengthen partnerships, facilitate dialogue and elevate W&M’s influence
