The Center for Geospatial Analysis: The Home of GIS at W&M
The Center for Geospatial Analysis (CGA) is a comprehensive and inclusive geospatial resource providing high-impact, experiential learning opportunities to William & Mary undergraduate and graduate students, faculty and staf, and the broader community. We leverage geographic information systems (GIS) and remote sensing tools to map and analyze geospatial data and present results with visual power and clarity.
Our Impact:
We supported over 5,000 interactions with the CGA last semester! Our work supports:
- Enhancing Teaching: The CGA offers 8 unique courses aimed at giving students a marketable skill in geospatial analysis, including a new course that fulfills a W&M COLL requirement. We support faculty across campus to incorporate mapping projects into courses.
- Advancing Research: We support faculty, students and community members in integrating the latest geospatial technologies into their research.
- Expanding Opportunities: We organize monthly events that showcase the diverse career paths and research possibilities in geospatial analysis.
Your Impact:
Your contribution to the CGA directly supports cutting-edge technology, innovative research, and transformative learning experiences. Here are some ways you can make a difference:
- Increase and update our equipment for loan, including drones, or GNSS/GPS units.
- Contribute to student experiences including conference attendance and presentations, research projects, or paid internship opportunities.
- Improve our classroom spaces with wall-mounted teaching screen, improved monitors, and ergonomic seating
- Further our growth with a named geospatial faculty or fellowship position to expand coursework.
